Who We ARe:

Terrain is a groundbreaking nonprofit that believes everyone needs art — and that a more just and vibrant Spokane is possible through creativity, economic opportunity, and the collective action of everyone who dares to create.

In addition to large-scale events (Terrain, Bazaar, BrrrZAAR) highlighting hundreds of artists and attracting 10s of thousands of attendees, Terrain also runs a retail storefront (From Here), a gallery space (Terrain Gallery + Annex), an art-driven beautification program (Window Dressing); a professional development program for artists (Creative Enterprise); and a bi-monthly workshop series for arts-based businesses (Terrain Talks).

In 2023, Terrain’s programs and events generated $1,190,550 in art sales and artist payments — OVER A MILLION DOLLARS! — and $981,283 of that went directly back into the pockets of local creatives.

Event by event, program by program, artist by artist, Terrain transforms the landscape of our city by breaking down barriers and creating platforms that inspire.

foundational pillars:

Build Community through Art & Creativity

Support Artists and the arts

catalyze creative businesses

advocate for the Arts

What began as a group of friends who were sick of watching their most talented peers move to other cities has become a movement credited with “nearly single-handedly reviving art in youth culture in our city.”
