Bitters are essential components of cocktails and are also fantastic digestifs. Bitters are the culinary equivalent to salt and pepper seasoning your mixed drinks and seltzer waters. Learn how to make and use bitters in this hands-on “make-and-take” workshop.
Learn the story and science of bitters as well as basic formulas, tools, and processes to make your own bitter tinctures. Demystify bitters as you learn about the ingredients. In class we’ll choose from a variety of bittering and flavoring agents — botanicals including dried seeds, peels, flowers, and barks — combining a special blend from different recipe options. We’ll begin this first step of the infusing process in class.
The workshop includes botanicals, jar with infusing base, an eyedropper dispensing bottle, instructions, worksheet, and recipes to complete the process at home. Participants will take home a jar of infusing goodness. Ingredients from this class will make approximately 24 oz. of bitters — equivalent to 2 of our DIY Artisan Bitters Kits. Workshop size is limited to 12.
