We are working with Poet Laureate Laura Reed to capture written portraits as well. The brilliant Ms. Reed will run a workshop to help capture our thoughts and feelings of this place and time on paper.
Selected pieces from this workshop will be curated into the show. We will also host a reading on July 12.
Whether you’re a published writer or if you’ve never written before, the workshop is open to everyone.
SNAPSHOT GALLERY SHOW
A look at Spokane right now
Our hope with Snapshot is to capture images of this moment in the life of our city from many angles, so that we can see as comprehensively as possible the way Spokane looks to all of its people.
We want deeply to celebrate and take pride in the Spokane we see before us — the tremendous growth, the pride, the enthusiasm — but we also want to challenge ourselves as a community to make the view of Spokane more hopeful for everyone.
To that end, we have asked local professional photographers from all walks of life to shoot the Spokane they see everyday. Those images form the backdrop for Snapshot. We are also giving cameras to various groups whose perspective is not often captured.
