Love, fame, wealth, one’s next meal
NEED | WANT is a juried art exhibition concerned with the way contemporary American society assigns value and priority. What do we need as people? What do we need as a society? What do we merely want? Is there any difference? How do these priorities shift over time? How do they become distorted? We’re looking for artists of all ages and disciplines, working in any media, to submit work concerned with these issues for consideration in an exhibition that will run from Oct. 14, 2011 through January 7 at the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture in Spokane, Wash.
NEED | WANT is a collaboration between the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture and Terrain, a grassroots, non-profit organization seeking to connect generations of artists with each other and to promote the arts in the community at large.
Visit terrainspokane.com/user to submit to NEED | WANT.
Submissions will be juried by a panel drawing from members of Terrain, the MAC and the Spokane Arts Commission.
Please pass this along to anyone who may be interested.
Submissions MUST be received by Friday, July 29, 2011
Artists will be notified by Friday, August 5, 2011
NEED | WANT runs October 14, 2011 through January 7, 2012 at The Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture, 2316 W. First Ave., Spokane WA. An opening reception will be held October 14. Other events will follow.
PLEASE NOTE:
- Only original work will be considered
- You are submitting your actual work, not samples of your work. Only submit artwork that will be available from September 2011 through January 2012.
- Submissions are limited to three pieces per person
- Include as much information about pieces as possible, especially factors that may make displaying the piece difficult (size, fragility, weight in excess of 40 pounds, etc). This is not grounds for exclusion, we just need to know the special circumstances we’re working with.
